I've been working in Asia-Pacific international schools for 35 years - 24 in Japan - in San Francisco, Guam, Honolulu and Tokyo, with degrees in Humanities (BA - Minnesota), English Literature (MA - Middlebury) and a teaching certification (San Francisco State University).
I've been working with high school juniors and seniors for 37 years - as a teacher, an IB Coordinator and a University Counselor. I've taught IB English, History, Philosophy and Psychology, as well as Social Studies and English to grades 7 to 12. I am familiar with US, UK, Canadian and Japanese university systems, and I have helped students apply to over 23 countries.

I will offer consultations with students and families to determine the best way forward to ... be proactive with homework, essays and major assignments (myself or through recommending qualified tutors); prepare for standardized tests – SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS; make up missed credits with replacement or recovery classes
I am available on an hourly basis to give families advice about targeting the right colleges, the best writing approaches for college applications, and strategies for standardized testing. I can also assist applicants and their families through the entire process on a monthly or yearly basis at my Office (in front of Todoroki station) or online.
Cost - ¥70,000 – for 18 to 23 hours of instruction and six practice exams - in classes limited to 6 students per session. Times and Dates: will vary depending on interest, numbers and open times; Format: one hour of instruction & practice - 90 minutes of mock testing.
